Hardware Compatibility
Supported
The Core Fleet. These are our primary focus. We use these devices for our day-to-day development, ensuring they get the most attention and the most frequent check-ups.
Maintenance: Regularly tested against new software releases.
Support: Our team is most familiar with these models and can provide the most direct
assistance.
Status: Part of our active, long-term roadmap
Works with
Verified Functional. We’ve tested these, they pass the API requirements, and they work as intended today. We just aren't actively building new features for them or including them in every single test cycle.
Maintenance: Validated for baseline compatibility and current functionality.
Support: We’ll help where we can, but we don't offer specialized troubleshooting
for these models.
Status: Functional "as-is." Updates or fixes are handled on an incidental basis.
Legacy supported
These devices often rely on outdated standards.
Use of these devices may pose a security risk and they may not comply with modern IT
standards.
The Veterans. These devices can still be used with Smartsign, but they’ve been retired from our active development and testing cycles.
Maintenance: No further updates, feature developments, or active testing are
performed for these devices.
Support: Limited to existing documentation and known workarounds.
Status: Reliability is expected to decrease over time. They will not support new
features and may eventually lose connectivity as web and security standards
evolve.
Other
Untested / Generic. Any device not on the lists above falls here. They might work if they follow standard protocols, but we haven't plugged them in to check.
Maintenance: None. These devices are outside our testing scope.
Support: No official support or documentation available.
Status: Use at your own discretion.
