How to access Smartsign Player Config​

If there is no Config shortcut, you can access the configuration by launching the Player and then inputting the following combinations. (APK v10.24+) Using remote: UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT
Using keyboard: 1 2 3 4

How to exit Smartsign Player​

Press BACK to exit the player. On most Androids, Right-Click and Escape are also mapped to BACK. If you exit any other way, the player's built-in watchdog will re-launch the player automatically after a short delay. This is a failsafe to make sure the player is running at all times. (The failsafe can be disabled with the setting Start AndroidPlayer on close/exit)

Change orientation​

Minimum firmware version 6.7630 or later (released 2024-12-16).
Minimum Android Player APK 10.24.11 or later.

Android TV UI is not designed for portrait use. As such it will remain in landscape and rotation will be applied/restored automatically by the player on start/exit.

  1. With the player running, access the player configuration by pressing 1 2 3 4 on the remote
  2. Select Screen orientation
  3. Select the desired orientation, for example Portrait
  4. For portrait orientation, also make sure to enable Use ExoPlayer on the player in Smartsign Publisher once it has been connected. This is necessary for proper video rotation.

I have enabled API Access in the display, how do I set my Pre-Shared Key in Smartsign?​

  1. Log in to Smartsign Publisher with administrative access.
  2. Navigate to Screens and open the screen connected to the Sony display.
  3. Select the Settings tab.
  4. Find the Pre-Shared Key setting.
  5. Enter the same Pre-Shared Key that is configured on the display.
  6. Click Save.

To apply the same key to multiple screens, configure the setting on their screen folder instead. The screens will inherit the setting from the folder.

Factory reset​

  1. Open Settings
  2. Select System → About → Reset → Factory data reset
  3. Select Delete everything
  4. Confirm

Known limitations

Max download size​

The maximum file size downloadable by the Android Player is 2GB.
