Preparation Checklist
- Check the System Requirements to make sure your system meets the necessary requirements.
- Make sure that all Prerequisites are installed/available.
- Prepare an account for the server's licensing by going to https://portal.smartsign.se and signing up.
- Test with a web browser from the server so that https://portal.smartsign.se can be reached from it.
- Decide where your MSSQL database should be located. Install if needed.
- Localhost (SQL Express)
- Remote server
- We recommend installing MS SQL Management Studio on the server regardless of where the database is located. This simplifies troubleshooting both during install and later.
- Have credentials ready for the database.
- During install we recommend that the user has the role DBCREATOR.
- After install DBCREATOR can be removed if desired, but the user must be DBO for the application database.
- During install we recommend that the user has the role DBCREATOR.
- Decide on which hostname to use.
- We recommend creating a CNAME in DNS for a dedicated Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), i.e. "smartsign.example.com".
- Using IP or the server's actual hostname will restrict and complicate the possibilities for future reconfiguration.

- Have the necessary SMTP records/credentials prepared.
