After a long time of only fixes, it's finally time for a feature release
for the on-premises server. While it may look the same on the surface a
lot of changes have happened under the hood. The previous on-premises
server was a so called monolith, i.e. all functions inside the same
application. With this new release we now break down the server into
smaller parts that can operate independently from each other. One of
those parts is Smartsign Identity, our modern authentication server
based on OpenID Connect and OAUth2.0 standards. Overall, this means
better security and scalability and many other benefits since it now
operates much more similar to how we run in the cloud. It also means
that development and quality assurance can work more effectively and
provide faster and better releases. Of course it adds complexity as
well, but fortunately we have spent a good amount of time on how we
package the parts so you don't have to be a rocket scientist to get it
running.
Known limitations

- No support for external authentication (Azure AD/Active Directory)
- No offline licensing
Features, improvements and notable bug fixes
Below is a short summary of some of the improvements since the last
on-premise release, but there is much much more in there. For a more
